Last night I decided there was no way on this green earth that I would punish myself by walking some 31 kilometers, which converts to 19 plus miles.
Several other pilgrims felt the same. We had Catarina drive us to a point closer to Ponte de Lima. Three pilgrims got out about 12 miles out but I asked to be driven closer still. Steve and Angie joined me and we walked 8 miles.
Well I say we walked, but as is my usual habit, I drop back and walk alone with my thoughts. I stopped along the way so many times to photograph the glorious flowers growing on the side of the road or in the garden of one of the many homes along the Way. So far, the Camino Portugues is almost exclusively through residential areas, very different from the Camino Frances.
I arrived in Ponte de Lima, checked into the hotel, had a wonderful shower and went down to the cafe for a sandwich and a glass if vinho verde – absolutely wonderful day on the Camino.

The flower photos are exquisite! You are so smart for going at your own pace, and taking time to smell the roses. . . And other blooms! Enjoy!
