Camino de Santiago de Compostela – It has finally arrived!

In 2 days I’m beginning my journey toward the Camino!  It’s so hard for me to believe that the time since I first decided to walk this pilgrimage has gone so quickly.

I hiked about 9-1/2 to 10 miles today.  Aside from the heat, it was absolutely beautiful.  I walked a very long uphill and then the dirt country roads I so love.  Funny thing I will be called a Peregrina (feminine for pilgrim) on the Camino and I walked today watching a Peregrine Falcon flying over head for most of my hike.  At times the Falcon swooped down so low, I could clearly see each feather on his/her wings. I think this was another of the many Camino lessons I have been experiencing in the past couple of weeks.

“Take flight Peregrina, be free, experience the beauty”

the Falcon seemed to be telling me.  And now I’m ready.  The time has finally come.

I am hoping to continue posting my experiences on this blog.  Should that be impossible from the small towns in northern Spain, I will again post when I arrive in one of the cities along the Camino and definitely upon my return home.

And now – I’m off on my biggest adventure!  Thank you, my followers and friends for all the support you have given me while I conditioned and trained.

Buen Camino y Ultreya,

Arlene
