Last night I decided there was no way on this green earth that I would punish myself by walking some 31 kilometers, which converts to 19 plus miles.
Several other pilgrims felt the same. We had Catarina drive us to a point closer to Ponte de Lima. Three pilgrims got out about 12 miles out but I asked to be driven closer still. Steve and Angie joined me and we walked 8 miles.
Well I say we walked, but as is my usual habit, I drop back and walk alone with my thoughts. I stopped along the way so many times to photograph the glorious flowers growing on the side of the road or in the garden of one of the many homes along the Way. So far, the Camino Portugues is almost exclusively through residential areas, very different from the Camino Frances.
I arrived in Ponte de Lima, checked into the hotel, had a wonderful shower and went down to the cafe for a sandwich and a glass if vinho verde – absolutely wonderful day on the Camino.
I love your flower pics. So beautiful. Is the trail marked okay now?
Lynda, Yes the trail was marked quite well today and I was very glad for that! Arlene
My dear cousin, this camino seemes great for you. As you, I like to go alone when I run, just with my thoughts and stop for pictures of flowers or athers beautiful nature’s things.
PS: sorry for my english but I hope you understand the main part 😉 Kisses
I love your photos; can almost smell the flowers. Again, thanks for sharing and glad to hear you can be sensible and not get pushed into doing so much hard walking!! 🙂
The flower photos are exquisite! You are so smart for going at your own pace, and taking time to smell the roses. . . And other blooms! Enjoy!
It always amazes me that we have the same flowers here as there……and the pics you took are beautiful. I credit you for taking time alone so you can think and take those pictures…………if you walked along with others, you may get to chat and miss so much of what you are there for! Onward my friend……….
Arlene, the flowers are beautiful and what lovely photo memories you will have of them. Spring is twaddling in here. Wishing you and all the rest Happy Easter week. It should get more busy now. Buen Camino Ingrid
