Day 31 – Palas de Rei to Melide

It seems when I feel strong and do extra mileage,  I pay dearly the next day. Today was tough! Every footfall produced pain in my knee.

I did walk to Melide and am now holed up in my hotel for the night, icing my knee.

Much of today’s walk was on dirt paths through forest. A few sections were rocky, in fact one section was quite challenging for me. At the end of another section was a sign in several languages warning of slippery rocks, I was very careful but watched several fellows slip down the rocks.

Today only took me 10 miles/16 kms closer to Santiago in 4 hours and 45 minutes including stops. My garmin showed my average pace to be over 30 minutes per mile, pretty slow in my book. It cannot  be said I am racing toward the finish line.
