Camino de Gastronomía Portuguesa y Gastronomía  Española – Day 2 – Matosinhos to Vila do Conde

Distance Walked: 14.20 miles/22.85 kilometers
Total Distance Walked: 14.20 milrd/ 22.85 kilometers

It was a beautiful cloudless day on the Caminho. A little windy but beautiful nonetheless, the temperatures were moderate. We began with layers which quickly became peeled off.

Breakfast was good for the majority and a carb load for the minority.

We were chauffeured from Porto to Matosinhos where we began our Caminho.

After 5 miles or so we stopped for lunch.

A seafood soup but not what was ordered. We ordered vegetable soup – Oh well so much for ny command of the Portuguese language.

Dinner was in a local restaurant in Vila do Conde. The Villageois.

A beautiful very locally inspired meal with olives and a gorgeous tuna pate and homemade bread as starters.

Followed by Portuguese fish and chips

Fried cod-fish with homemade potato chips (otherwise known as crisps)

Followed by dessert, naturally.

Crene caramel and chocolate mousse

I neglected to mention the beautiful vinho Branca, but it too was wonderful.

We are now fueled for another wonderous day on the Caminho Portugues.
