I started out this morning in wind and cool. Before an hour it was raining and continued for the rest of the day.
Thankfully, I am enjoying walking in the rain. I find it so peaceful, I love the quiet and the smell of the wet earth. The one thing I don’t like is how condensation builds on the inside of the poncho, but there always seems to be a hot shower or bath at the end of the trek.
Today I had made a reservation in Casa Roan in Legonde. I had planned for a short day but felt strong walking so I continued all the way to Palas de Rei. Because Casa Roan is off the Camino, the owner picks up his guests wherever they stop walking. I had the bartender in an albergue in Palas call the owner for me.
About 20 minutes later the proprietor of the Casa arrived to drive me back to Legonde. This casa rural is a beautiful old farmhouse and I appear to be the only guest so far. I had a wonderful hot bath and no longer feel like a smelly wet peregrina. Dinner will be served at 8 sharp; I’m anxiously awaiting the 2 hours to pass. I’m hoping for a course of Caldo Gallego.
Today I walked 16.5 miles/27.1 kms
