My friend and sister-in-law, Erika decided to take a trip to the Wineries in Sonoita and Elgin on Sunday. 
It was a great day for tasting local varietals. We stopped at four local wineries and tasted each of their offerings – Wilhelm Family Vineyards, Village of Elgin Winery, Kief-Joshua Vineyards and Callaghan Vineyard.
Yes, it was a fine day for wine tasting even though the weather was either raining or threatening to rain.
Finally we stopped at the Steak Out Restaurant and had a wonderful ribeye steak grilled over a mesquite wood fire to end our day of fun.

It was fun. The wineries are up in the mountains, actually ranch country, sure would be nice to live there. More south than Tucson though, only one border patrol checkpoint to go through. Should go sometime.

Yes, Where I live (Tucson) is only about 1.5 to 2 hours drive south to Mexico. The wineries are south of here about 1 hours drive.
Unfortunately, illegal aliens are a big problem for Arizona; seems like everyone wants to come to the United States and southern Arizona is easy access for them. Some of the checkpoints even have drug smelling dogs checking the cars as you go through.
I guess this isn’t called the Wild West for nothing 🙂

You are so funny! I wish we lived closer together. I need more practice walking and adding the vino into a practice walk might help. Washington has lots of good wineries we could visit. Heck, the corner grocery store is a shorter walk and the shelves are full.

Probably, but he comes in handy. A couple times last year on 90 degree days, I wasn’t doing too good and he offered to carry my pack as well as his. Or maybe we could just do a girls camino. Like Debbie Powers. She hasn’t blogged yet. Kinda worried but maybe she can’t get internet until Pamplona and she did say they were going to go slow at first.

Well we have time to decide and if Dale wants to come that could be good also. I am a firm believer in baggage transport, I always use Jacotrans – they are the best! So transport the heavy stuff and walk in comfort. I was wondering about Debbie as well. But I’m sure we’ll hear soon.

Regarding Debbie, I think she was flying into Paris then to Bilbao, spending the night and then on to SJPDP. I think she was spending the night of the 5th in SJPDP, the 6th in Orrison and I’m thinking three more days before Pamplona which would put her there tomorrow or the next day. If she is having tech problems she can get whatever in Pamplona. Or she could have had delayed flights. We had a real mess in Paris. Trying to get from the airport to the overnight train. We were very polite but it didn’t help. The first desk I made inquiries at about Bayonne was the correct desk that we ended up at three hours later. She said on you mean Bayonne! Exactly the same pronunciation I had used at first and even had it written down. Just wanted to frustrate me and make me run around. Hated Paris, loved the rest of France.

YUM looking steak, Arlene!! I’ve just had a very similar meal here in the French Pyrenees!! And I’d absolutely be ready for a Vino Tinto Camino Prep – bring it on!! 🙂
