As you can see from the picture I was elated to have made it. Yesterday and today were very hard. I really don’t know how I got through. Must just be that New York thick headedness!

Hi Lynda,
It rained a bit while on the way this morning, then a little drizzle when I went out to dinner but otherwise a lovely day to complete my Camino.
As for what is next, I’m not sure. I’m thinking about hiking down the Grand Canyon and then back up in October.
As for another Camino, we’ll see, Le Puy is in my mind, but maybe the AT or the PCT. I just don’t know yet.

So glad yo have some good weather in Santiago.
I do not think I could do the descent into the Grand Canyon. I’m afraid of heights and that narrow little trail the donkeys go down would have me wobbly kneed and having heart failure. As for the Pacific Crest Trail – they don’t have the infrastructure like the Camino. I live very close to where it passes by up here in Washington. I’m too old to be carrying a tent and all cooking stuff and really don’t think I want to be camping with the bears and mountain lions.
I think the Le Puy route sounds wonderful.

I’m old too! But my son has told me I couldn’t do the AT or the Grand Canyon, which has been kind of a dare to me. So I will try the GC this October if I can get reservations in the Phantom Ranch on the bottom – I know I can’t do down and up in one day. The uphills kill me.
As far as carrying food and tents on the PCT or the AT or even the AZT (Arizona Trail), I think to go with a partner and have them help carry the stuff is the way to go. I’ve walked several different sections of the AZT (near where I live) as day hikes and I think I would like to do the entire route. I’ve never slept out in the wilderness or anywhere for that matter, but I don’t want to regret not having done things in 20 years or so. I want to make it to the finish line screaming “What a Ride this has been!”

Arlene – someone should write a song about you – The Camino Girl. Congrats mate! Sounds like it was difficult. Often it’s the way, isn’t it? The ones we least expect. When are you back in the US? And any further thoughts on an alburge? Love from me and Jennifer.

Yeah, I’m a Traveling Gal, can you imagine that a song about me and the Camino. It was a tough one, lots of hills to climb, I had thought it was pretty flat, boy was I mistaken!
Sure was good to speak with you.
The Casa would be tax wise better for me in France than Spain. I need to walk the Chemins Le Puy and Arles to see if I could feel comfortable there. I do have family there and can speak a bit of French but I do so love Galicia. This is a hard decision and I guess there is much more research to be done on my part. But the dream is still alive and strong, so I’m sure it will happen.
