Galicia May Be the Place!

I’m walking this Camino with my eyes open for a place to live. With my mind and eyes open to the possibility of becoming an Expat.

Galicia is magical. The energy here is very strong.  I truly think this may be the place. The place I hang my hat and open my casa rurale.

I have a need to give back to the Camino.  A need to help the pilgrims who travel the Way.

A burning need to get back to Europe,  the land of my ancestors.  A need for a simpler life.  A need to live close to the land.

A need that is unfulfilled living in Tucson, Arizona!

In August, I will look further in Galicia, on the Camino Ingles, for the perfect place.

  1. Oh Arlene, I love that idea. I have been trying to convince my husband that being an expat is okay and Panama or Spain would work great!. I am so happy for you. We’ll stay at your casa rurale. Love it!! So glad to hear from you!

Looks like a wonderful area to place your hat and boots! When you feel the magic, you know it is right. So happy for you! Will miss you, yet will have a wonderful place to visit you. As you always say “Have magic in your life.”

Finally at my age I am beginning to listen to my heart. U have had a need to be in Europe since I was a young girl, now I believe may be the time for the realization.

  14. How wonderful Arlene, then I will have 2 expats in Galicia to visit. You might want to get in touch with my friend Tracy Saunders from The Little Fox House, she has this beautiful place that serves as a post camino retreat close to Vimianzo in A Coruna. http://www.thelittlefoxhouse.com You can also connect via facebook. Her street address is 15121 Lugar de Carantonya, (off the Camino). In case you have time now or later in August when you walk again, 981730-842 landline or mobile 686-315-328
She will welcome you to stay with her for a few days (donativo) all you need is your compostela… or proof you walked, or just tell her I send you.

  15. Arlene,
Like Don Quiote, you can dream the impossible dream, you can follow your star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far, but unlike Don Quixote, your dream does not have to be impossible or hopeless. Remember, like Walt Disney said, when you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, your dreams come true.

I sincerely hope your dreams come true.

  16. Arlene,

When the soul guides you – you cannot go wrong. I, too, found Galicia magical. My call to it was to write a story. The story gave itself to me as I trekked through the forests of Galicia – now I must sit and write it.
I wish you all the best with fulfilling your dreams. Go for it!

    Hugs,

Loved the quote from The Man From LaMancha… and Disney — I can so see you selling in Arizona and moving to Europe to be doing something that gets you back to the earth, to nature, to doing what you truly love and enjoy……. people may stay longer at your casa if you were to give lessons and tours of your magnificent glass working as well…………you have so many talents to share with everyone Arlene!…. I am glad to call you friend!
