You know Arlene, I’d been looking at the RoadID’s. I have no known allergies or biggie health concerns (that I know of…) but thought the ID is a real good idea!!!! (though it does remind me of my 1960 civil defense bracelet we were issued at school in the Seattle area – for body ID if Seattle got nuked!!!)

I also don’t have any known health issues. I am allergic to codeine and iodine, however.
I got the Road ID because I live 2,500 miles from my family. And because I hike alone in the desert and walk the Camino, my sons now feel comfortable knowing I wear this identification bracelet should an accident happen.

Dear Arlene, what a great idea and thanks for sharing. I know people who have to wear an ID bracelet for various – usual medical – reasons but this could be such a comfort for so many people and I’m pretty sure my parents would have loved for me to wear one when I first ventured off in my 20ies to the wilds of Australia!! I’ll take this chance to wish you all the very best on this 2nd Camino. It’ll be interesting to follow your blog to see how, potentially, it compares to your first walk. Also, just to let you know that I’ll be travelling overseas from next week for about a month so won’t be ‘on’ much, but will follow your blog and the PGS blog and forum as often as I can. I admit to being envious, but will try to not show it too much! 🙂 Britta

Thanks for the well wishes on my 9 days away Camino! Glad to know you will be following my blog as I make my way to Santiago de Compostela. You can’t imagine how good it makes me feel to know my PGS family will be along for the “read” and moral support.
The Road ID is not expensive it cost me just $20 US. Shipping to countries other than the US only costs another $20 US. In my opinion, it is a wonderful thing. All the cyclists (like Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer) wear them. That’s how I found out about this, my son is a mountain bike racer. Great Cheap Insurance I say!
